What students and families need to know.

CLAT 2027 applications close on October 31, 2026. Check the official December 6 exam schedule, application fees and a practical checklist before submitting.

Checked on 6 October 2026: Students applying for undergraduate law admission through CLAT 2027 should plan around the Consortium of National Law Universities' published application deadline of 31 October 2026, 11:59 p.m. The official instructions schedule the offline examination for 6 December 2026, 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., subject to revision.

The published application fee is ₹4,000 for General/OBC candidates and ₹3,500 for SC/ST/BPL/PwD candidates. Check the category instructions and any additional charges before payment. Source: official CLAT 2027 undergraduate instructions.

What to check before submitting

Keep your application work separate from preparation for the examination. A useful approach is to finish the administrative steps early, then return your attention to study rather than checking whether the form is still pending.

  • Use an email address and mobile number you can access throughout the admission process.
  • Compare your name and date of birth with the supporting records.
  • Read the current eligibility rules for the programme you want.
  • Prepare the documents in the formats specified by the official portal.
  • Save the submitted form and payment acknowledgement.

Shortlist law programmes alongside exam preparation

Compare course structure, location, total cost, accommodation and student support before building a preference list. Make notes about why each programme belongs on your shortlist. This will make later decisions easier than trying to rank unfamiliar colleges after a result arrives.

The entrance examination is one stage. Keep checking official information about the subsequent admission process and any university-specific conditions. A successfully submitted form does not guarantee a seat.

CLAT and AILET need separate planning

If you are also considering NLU Delhi, read our AILET 2027 deadline update and track that application separately. Avoid assuming one law entrance registration completes the other.

For a wider checklist covering documents, college comparison and budget, use our college admission 2027 after Class 12 guide. Dates can be revised, so confirm the latest official notice before taking action.
