What students and families need to know.

Finland’s official admissions guide was updated on October 5. For the 2027 intake, check joint, separate and rolling routes at programme level before applying.

Checked on 6 October 2026: Study in Finland, the official guide from the Finnish National Agency for Education, updated its bachelor's and master's admissions page on 5 October 2026. Students preparing for the 2027 intake can use it to understand the application routes.

The official guide directs applicants to Studyinfo.fi and explains joint, separate and rolling applications. Many English-taught programmes use a January joint application for studies starting the following autumn, but dates vary. The guide does not establish one deadline for all 2027 programmes.

Check the programme rather than assuming a national deadline

Create an individual tracker entry for every shortlisted course. Record its intake, application window, document deadline and any scholarship process. This makes it easier to compare two programmes that use different application routes.

A good first check is whether the course fits your previous study and your intended next step. Read the required qualification, relevant subject prerequisites and the requested language evidence directly on the programme page.

Prepare a focused application folder

  • Collect academic records and check name consistency.
  • Read the programme's exact language requirements.
  • Identify any entrance assessment or additional evidence requested.
  • Check application charges and the university's scholarship instructions.
  • Keep a record of the submitted application and follow-up requests.

Write a motivation statement around your own academic experience and interests if the programme asks for one. Specific examples make the application more informative than broad praise of a country or university.

Budget before comparing offers

Calculate tuition and living expenses separately, then include travel and arrival costs. A possible scholarship should remain conditional in your budget until an award is confirmed. Also check the official residence permit requirements for your situation.

Use our study abroad 2027 application and budget guide for a complete planning checklist, and explore our Finland study destination page. If you are comparing an Indian undergraduate alternative, the 2027 college admission guide can help you organise that route alongside your overseas applications.
