The safest way to plan CUET subjects is to start with the courses you want. Choosing a combination first and checking universities later can leave you prepared for tests that do not fit your preferred programmes.
For the 2027 intake, build a provisional map now and confirm it when the new official instructions appear. This guide was checked on 13 October 2026. It does not announce a 2027 test pattern, subject limit or application date.
Use two sources for two different questions
The official NTA CUET UG website provides examination information. A university's own admissions materials establish programme-specific requirements. You need both: what the test allows and what the course requires.
For example, Delhi University's 2026–27 undergraduate FAQ discusses programme eligibility and subject mapping. It illustrates why university-level checking matters; it should not be relabelled as the final rules for 2027.
Make a course-first shortlist
Write the exact programme name, university and campus where relevant. B.Com and B.Com (Hons.), or similarly named science courses, may have different requirements. Do not group them under a vague label and assume one combination will cover them all.
For each option, record why you would attend: subject interest, curriculum, cost or location. This keeps your subject planning connected to an actual college choice rather than a collection of possible tests.
Build a mapping sheet
| Column | What belongs there |
|---|---|
| Programme | Exact university and course name |
| School qualification | Your subjects and results relevant to eligibility |
| Test requirement | Official required subjects or permitted combinations |
| Admission process | University registration or later preference steps |
| Evidence | Official document, year and page or section |
| Status | Provisional, confirmed or clarification needed |
Leave the 2027 test requirement marked provisional where the new rules have not been verified. A well-organised unknown is safer than a confident assumption copied from an earlier year.
Read every part of the eligibility wording
Check the qualification, subject prerequisites and any permitted alternatives. Look for whether the requirement relates to a school subject, a test subject or both. If the document uses a specific combination, copy it accurately into your private planning notes.
Do not infer eligibility from a course name or from another university's rule. If an ambiguity would change your test choices, ask the admissions office with your actual school subjects and the exact programme identified.
Look for overlap, then protect important options
Once you have the requirements recorded, identify subjects that support several serious choices. This can help organise preparation without taking unnecessary tests.
Here is a hypothetical example: two programmes on your shortlist require the same subject set, while a third needs an additional subject. First ask whether the third course remains a genuine preference and whether you meet its prerequisites. Then check the new examination rules before deciding how to accommodate it. This is a planning example, not an official CUET combination.
Keep entrance and university applications separate
A test registration can be completed while a university application remains undone. Record both processes, their confirmed deadlines and the acknowledgements required. After results, read the university's instructions for preferences, documents and admission decisions.
Your tracker should show the next action for each university. A single tick labelled CUET done does not capture the whole admission journey.
Update the map when new notices appear
- Download the new examination bulletin and university admission document.
- Confirm the correct intake year.
- Review your mapped combinations for changes.
- Resolve any uncertainty before submitting.
- Save your final submitted selections and acknowledgements.
If a correction facility is announced, read exactly what can be changed and when. Do not plan to fix a deliberate guess later unless the official process allows it.
Prepare without turning rumours into rules
You can strengthen relevant school subjects, practise with official material already available and research courses now. When someone shares a claimed new pattern or deadline, look for the corresponding official notice before updating your confirmed plan.

Frequently asked questions
Is there one best CUET combination for everyone?
No. Start with your target programmes and the official requirements that apply to them.
Can a 2026 university FAQ confirm 2027 eligibility?
No. Use it as background, then check the new year's rules.
Does a high score overcome a missing prerequisite?
Do not assume so. Programme eligibility and score-based selection are separate matters.
