What students and families need to know.

NTA’s October 16 corrigendum revises UGC-NET December exam dates and lists city-slip and admit-card dates. Check what applicants should update now.

Planning check: 20 October 2026

This report continues to refer to the October 16 corrigendum; it is not a new examination-date announcement. Keep the updated bulletin and your application records together, and check the subject-wise schedule when officially released.

If the examination supports a research application, read the full coursework-versus-research master’s guide and the university reference checklist to plan the next academic steps separately.

Official notice: 16 October 2026 | Checked: 17 October 2026.

UGC-NET applicants should replace saved copies of the earlier December bulletin with the updated version. A fresh corrigendum makes an important change to the examination calendar and clarifies how the revised instructions should be used.

The revised dates

NTA's October 16 corrigendum and updated bulletin list examinations on December 14–18 and December 21, 2026, with the subject-wise schedule to follow separately. City intimation is listed from November 23 and admit-card download from December 7.

Where the old and updated bulletins conflict, the updated provisions prevail. Candidates should read the comparative statement in Annexure A and the updated bulletin in Annexure B.

Update your preparation calendar

Remove any reminder that treats December 19 as the confirmed last examination day. Keep a distinction between the overall test dates and the date for your own subject. The revised window does not mean that every candidate appears on each listed day.

Leave flexibility in travel plans until your individual centre, date and shift are available. A city-intimation slip is useful for planning; it does not replace the admit card required for the examination.

Read beyond the date table

The comparative statement also addresses examination instructions, evaluation and documentation. Read the rows relevant to your circumstances rather than relying only on a social-media summary of the changed dates. If a requirement is unclear, seek clarification through the official helpdesk before assuming that an older instruction still applies.

For application deadlines and fee planning, use our UGC-NET December registration guide, which is being updated to reflect this notice. Applicants considering the next academic step can also read our PhD admission planning guide for 2027.

A useful check for submitted applicants

  1. Save the updated bulletin with its date in the filename.
  2. Compare your saved application details with your documents.
  3. Record any permitted correction you may need and follow the official correction instructions.
  4. Keep your registered email and application credentials accessible and private.

Frequently asked questions

Has the exam shifted entirely to December 21?

No. The revised schedule includes December 14–18 as well as December 21. Wait for the subject-wise allocation.

Can I keep using the old bulletin?

Use the updated bulletin and comparative statement together; the corrigendum explains which provisions take precedence.

Does this announce an individual centre?

No. Your individual examination details must be checked in the documents released for your candidature.
